Solar Building
 

A solar building is a building that is designed (for example with a solar panel roof) and other features so that it produces all the electricity that it needs. In other words as far as electricity goes, it's self-sufficient. Sometimes the building will produce more power than it needs (daytime), which gets sold to the power grid, and at nighttime it uses power from the grid.

My question is, what is a good way to translate "solar building" into spanish without explaining the whole thing. Would "edificio solar" work?

Since, unfortunately, solar buildings are not very common, I don't think there is any official name to call them. But I think a good translation is the one you proposed: Edificio solar.

I think I have also heard of Edificio autosuficiente, but I'm not sure if it means the same thing, although I suppose it does.

Te hablo desde España. El español que conozco es, sobre todo, el del centro de España. Al tratarse de un término técnico no debe de haber muchas diferencias dialectales.

I think "edificio autosuficiente" would be a good translation for me, and I think that's what I will use.

The "does" is short for "I suppose it does (have the same meaning)".

And:

And, in latin:

You can use "casa solar". It's an often term for this house, basically for the influence of english.

I have also heard "vivienda bióclimática autosuficiente" and, like Alfonso says "Edificio/Vivienda autosuficiente energéticamente"/"Edificio/vivienda Energéticamente Autosuficiente"
The first one "vivienda bioclimática" it's a house who is specifically design towards the place (solar variation, wind direction, materials, plants,..) and usually it produces all the electricity that it needs,, making it "autosuficiente".
The second one it's only a building/house who produces all the electricity that it needs, but not so "well" designed, only has some things (solar panel, windmills,...)
