Roller blades

Hi Everyone,
I am a first time forum user.
I work as a translator at a school district, and I need to translate "roller blades". What is the appropriate term? Is it the same as patines?

Thank you,

lblanco

Hi and welcome.

You can just use patines for skates, roller skates and roller blades. If you need to be more specific, you can use

patines (de cuatro ruedas) - roller skates
patines en línea - roller blades

I've even seen:

patines "roller blade" - roller blades.

Does anyone have any better way of saying roller blades?

I hope that helps you. In the future, try to use the vocabulary section for vocabulary questions.

Once again, welcome :D

I agree with David. In Spain, for those rollers with four wheels in line, we say patines en línea. I don't know any other way of saying this, but patines en línea is perfect.

Agree with both:
patines (roller skates)
patines en línea (roller blades)

saludos :D

Cabe agregar que "roller blades" is a registered trademark and the correct term in English is "inline skates".

As a deformation from the English term in-line skates, you can hear in Spain patines on line (truth), despite they're not supposed to be on the Internet.
