How can we translate plaza in the following context?

El hecho de que eches la solicitud para entrar en el colegio, no te garantiza plaza.

Place
vacancy
seat

The fact that you apply to enter the school doesnt garantee you get a seat /place?

... doesn't guarantee you will be accepted :good::good:
... doesn't guarantee you will get in :good:
... doesn't guarantee you will get a place :good:

Maybe someone would be interested to know that in some countries "plaza" is not understood with this meaning. They use the word "cupo".

"un cupo en el colegio/universidad" (even on an airplane :butterfly: :earth:).

"plaza" is a square.

...or "lugar", or "puesto". :D
