Cuantía

I know it means cantidad but I never heard it spoken. Is it legal jargon?

It is used in many contexts. It means "cantidad" but no "cardinal number" is expected. It is more a matter of weighing up. For instance

Tribunal de menor cuantía = small claims court
gran cuantía de daños = damages throughout
daños de gran cuantía = severe damage
cuantía geométrica = percentage of surface
cuantía mecánica = percentage of force
