Oddly, there are three mistakes in that sentence of six words (well, you do say corrections are welcome :rolleyes:).
1) It should only be 5 words, "the" is incorrect.
2) It should be immigrants, not inmigrants
3) Ridiculously, the word immigrant is now considered to pejorative, and they are now called migrants. What am I saying? they? I am an immigrant in Spain, and I don't see why I should call myself a migrant, it makes no sense. Birds are migrants, not people. I get very cross when people misuse language like this for the sake of pathetic political correctness. :mad::mad:

Both inmigrant and immigrant are English words, but they have different meanings.

If the OP was translating the Spanish word inmigrante as the English word 'inmigrant', then he made a mistake. :)

The word "migrant" was used before when speaking of people who travel throughout the States in search of "field work"... People would migrate to different parts of the country following the crops..... cotton, tomatoes, corn, apples, etc

And that, Elaina, is the meaning of an inmigrant - someone is moves around within the country, following work opportunities and the like.

Interesting. I've never heard of inmigrant, and it's not in the OED. Seeing that immigrant derives from Latin immigrare, perhaps it is a US invention for what I would understand as migrant workers. Is the pronunciation the same?
