El and Él

El and Él
 

Can someone explain to me when to use "Él" instead of El. I'm using rosetta stone (Latin America) sometimes I've seen it use Él and other times I've see it use El. Here are some examples.

El hombre y la mujer comen arroz.

Él maneja un carro.

Whats the difference and when to "Él" instead of El. I have somewhat of an idea... cause of the pictures they provide.. Like I think Él should be use when you are kinda like... pointing someone out and El is like "the" when you are just saying. :thinking:

"El" is the definite article for masculine singular.
"La" -> Feminine singular
"Los" -> Masculine plural
"Las" -> Feminine plural

"Él" is the pronoun for the third person, singular in masculine ("he").

and for third person for female would be Ella without "É" right?

That's correct.

By the way, there is a rule for one-syllable words, which says they should not have a written accent, but "él"/"el", "tú"/"tu", "de"/"dé"... are exceptions to mark the difference in nature of some words.
