(arithmetic) mean

I looked it up.
Arithmetic mean.
It means the average of added sums.
Example:
Pablo got 10 points, Juan got 20 points and Jose got 30 point...
10 + 20 + 30 =60
60 points divided by 3 people=20
Media aritmética / arithmetic mean = 20

It is perhaps worth pointing out that the accent changes for arithmetic for a noun or adjective:

This is an árithmétic mean
It is a case of simple aríthmetic.

Also, the arithmetic mean is not necessarily the same as a geometric mean or a harmonic mean.

En estadística, la media aritmética (también llamada promedio o simplemente media) de un conjunto finito de números es igual a la suma de todos sus valores dividida entre el número de sumandos.

En estadística, la mediana representa el valor de la variable de posición central en un conjunto de datos ordenados.

Por ejemplo: con {1, 3, 14} la media aritmética es (1+3+14)/3=6 , pero la mediana es 3.

Although arithmetic mean is the most precise translation, in the majority of contexts average (valor promedio) would be used instead. The only exceptions I can think of are when it's necessary to distinguish between different averages, whether different means (arithmetic, geometric, harmonic, etc. as observed by Perikles) or not (median, mode).
