"Correr a alguien" as "to fire someone"

Escuche que puedes usar "correr" por "fire". ¿De veras?

In series and movies dubbed in Mexico they use "correr" as fire someone. We use here "echar". "Despedir" is the neutral term that encompasses fire, dismiss, lay off someone, "let him/er go" ["let someone go" sounds a pretty wicked phrase to my ears]

@Caliber1: Alec has already replied, but yes, "correr a alguien" in Mexico means to fire someone from their job or to throw someone out from a place.

·Me corrieron de mi casa.
I was thrown out from my home.

·¿Supiste que corrieron a Luis (de su trabajo)?
Did you hear that they fired Luis from his job?

·Si no quieres que te corran, ya termina ese informe.
Finish that report now if you don't want to get fired.

·Vine a preguntar por qué corrieron a mi hija de la escuela.
I'm here to ask why they threw my daughter out from school.

·¿Qué haces aquí tan temprano? No me digas que te corrieron otra vez.
What are you doing here so early? Don't tell me you got fired again. :duh:
