Te voy a echar de menos

Te voy a echar de menos

Te voy a echar de menos. = I am going to miss you.

Is this a correct translation? If you were going to tell someone that you are going to miss them in Spanish. You would say, "te voy a echar de menos" I know there are different way to tell someone that you will miss them. If this is not your choice of words. How would you tell them that you are going to miss them?

That's what I would say as well (but that doesn't count for much). :)

You can also say: "Te voy a extrañar" (at least in Mexico, not sure if that works in other countries).

Perikles that's the answer I wanted to hear. Thanks and Thank you alx for the alternative! I will jot that down to memorize.

En España decimos mucho "te voy a añorar", pero creo que no se suele utilizar en otros países (por alguna conversación que recuerdo del foro).

This thread has a discussion on it.

"Añorar" in Mexico is too strong and more for emotional lacks than for people.
A mis sesenta y cinco años, añoro mis días de juventud.
Añoro la época que pasé de niño con mis abuelos.
Siendo adulto, añoraba su infancia.

In Costa Rica we understand "te voy a echar de menos" but more often say "Te voy a extrañar" or "Me vas a hacer mucha falta". With respect to "añorar", I agree with the other comment. We would not use it referring to people.

Awesome! Good thread. I was wondering just the other day how to say that. So, how would you say in the present tense that you are missing someone. Te necesito? Te echo de menos? I have no clue.:(

And don't forget:
Te extraño.
Me haces falta.
