The spelling of the correction fluid is Tipp-Ex.

Tipp-Ex is a brand of correction fluid sold in Europe. In America, Canada and Australia you'll hear Liquid Paper or Wite-Out.

aleCcowaN February 21, 2012 10:13 AM

In Argentina is corrector líquido or simply Liquid Paper™.

Same in Mexico.

Interesante...

True, but there is a verb to tippex, derived from it. :D

Rusty February 21, 2012 12:32 PM

Agreed, Perikles. I figured that might be the case sometime after I posted.
We use 'whiteout' as a noun and a verb here, even though the brandname is Wite-Out. More rarely, 'liquid paper' is also used a verb.

Mmmh...
I see BNC gives 17 examples of "Tippex" (as a noun) (I don't find the verb?)
By the way, what is "Blu-Tack", another brand?

Blu-Tack is some disgusting stuff you use to stick bits of paper onto the wall. It´s blue, and works like a tack (small nail). Quite useful, except you need to redecorate the wall afterwards. :)
