Merendar - To kill someone??
 

Doing endless verb conjugation with my teacher here in Ecuador and ran onto this.

merendar - Eat an afternoon snack or afternoon meal. Here on the Pacific coast they call the evening meal, "la cena", "la merienda" and don't use cena. It is just like English supper and dinner.

BUT! The "Universidad De Chicago Dictionario also had merendar - to kill someone but I can't find any other reference.

"Merendar" can also be used, coloquially, as to beat, to defeat.

Before a football match somebody could say:

"Nos los vamos a merendar", meaning "we are going to beat them".

To beat somebody may implyies to kill somebody, for example in a fight. So "merendar=matar" would be understandable in a particular context, and as a coloquial expression.

It's like I'll have you for lunch which is a funny way of saying I'll beat the heck out of you.
