"Jue"?
I hear the Mexicans around here toss that word around a lot.
Such as "Orale, jue" or "¿Qué pasó, jue?" In context it seems to mean "buddy" or "dude" or something. But I can't find it online or in my dictionary or on this site. I'm guessing I'm not spelling it right. |
What you're hearing is spelled 'güey', 'huey', 'juey' and 'buey'. All are pronounced like the English word 'way'.
One of its meanings is 'dude'. Most of the other meanings are derogatory; think about the primary characteristic of 'buey'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCey_(vulgar) |
Rusty is right, Lajekahr. I have a lot of friends from Mexico and, being a native English speaker myself, still won't say it among them. There are many other informal, friendly-sounding alternatives from which to choose, that are not derogatory. Good luck!

I am not sure, but that looks more like "son of a gun".... jue' p***
|
I also agree with Rusty. The last insult is not used so commonly by Mexicans.

Thanks. Been trying to figure that out for awhile now, but would never have guessed that spelling. :)
