Checkered

checkered pants
The other day I heard somebody say a different word for checkered or checked trousers, can anybody come up with the word?

Plaid trousers - I think that's more UK than anywhere, and we have more taste, so less likely to wear them. :D

Apart from that, I heard a different name, the guy was American, they were shorts.

In that case, it must have been 'insanely tasteless trousers'

Sometimes people who work in restaurant kitchesn wear black and white checked trausers. Plaid would not be the best term for the pattern on those pants.

Not really. Tartan is sometimes checkered, but refers specifically to patterns on Scottish kilts and the like.
