Granito de la encimera
 
¿Cómo se dice en inglés británico el granito de la encimera? Sé que encimera es hob (bueno, creo), pero no sé muy bien si falta algo. ¿Granite hob? Me refiero a esto:

It's not a hob, because the hob is the hot bit, either gas or electricity. That is a granite worktop. :)

countertop (AmE) = worktop (BrE)

If the granite slab is part of the stove itself, its called a 'stove top' in American English. This, I think, is the equivalent of a hob (BrE), which is described as a shelf behind or near the stove/fireplace where items are stored to keep warm/hot.

Bien, Chileno, bien, aunque en crisis... :eek:

Para mí un mesón de granito es un bar de comidas todo hecho de granito... Algo apabullante, creo. :D

Stove=estufa

hearth=fogón

En España "stove" es "fogón", pero en otros sitios hispanohablantes llaman "estufa" a lo que nosotros llamamos "fogón"...

En España, "hearth" es "hogar" o "chimenea"...

Quería aportar mi granito de arena... pero tampoco quería ensuciar la encimera...

OK en Chile.

Stove = cocina

Estufa = heater (electric/gas)

chimenea - chimney (aunque hogar se entiende por cualquier lugar en donde hayan brasas)

¿Es una estufa, fogón, cocina, etc etc etc?

Was she asking about how to say "granite countertop" or ? I can't imagine a stovetop being made of granite...but who am I to question it.

I got somewhat confused towards the middle of the posts.

Yes she was, but because she specifically asked for inglés británico, it is a "granite worktop", although I suppose countertop might be understood.

Bueno, yo ya me he aclarado (creo...). Hobe es la encimera de la cocina (la que se usa para cocinar) y worktop (contertop en AmEn) es la encimera donde se trabaja. Stove es el fogón (aunque también puede ser estufa, aunque ese contexto no me interesa). :D
