In the WWII diary of a Puerto Rican sailor who went ashore to visit the city of Manila is found this sentence:

Por el camino vimos cuerdas llenas de proviciones [should be provisiones, right?] que han sido transportado hasta aquí por los americanos en el corto tiempo que han estado aquí.

My attempt:
Along the road we saw ............. full of provisions that have been brought here by the Americans during the short time they've been here.

The sentence stands alone, with no more context. I know it's a tall order, but would anyone have an idea of what he saw? Surely not "ropes," right?

They saw acres full of provisions ...
The provisions were transported, not the acres (una cuerda = 0.971 acre).
This is a land measurement used in Puerto Rico.

Makes sense. So I should say "...acres of land filled with provisions that have been brought here by..." Right?
