Deathwatch beetle / woodworm

Deathwatch beetle / woodworm

I'd would translate both terms as "carcoma" in Spanish...

Is there a difference between "a deathwatch beetle" and "a woodworm"?

What would be the correct translation into Spanish? Carcoma?

Any other terms for it?

UGH! I would stay away from it in any language.......!!!

The things you come up with JPablo!

If the en.wikipedia article on woodworm is at all reliable, "woodworm" refers to the larvae/grubs of several different species of beetle, and "Death watch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum)" is one of those species. As this article links to the "es.wikipedia" article on "carcoma" which lists "Xestobium rufovillosum" as one of the types of "carcoma"...

Well, thanks to both...

But, I guess there are not many popular names for "carcoma", given the fact it is not very popular...?

Moliner also gives "Xestobium rufovillosum" as well as "Anobium"... I though of "polilla" but that's a horse of a different hue entirely...
