I don't think there is a difference....they both mean basically the same thing.......waiter

There might be some regional differences

In Spain you don't use "mesero", the common term is "camarero". México uses "mesero", as far as I know.

In Mexico, "camarero" is understood, but it sounds kind of presumptuous. We use "mesero".

In some regions they also say "mozo", but in Mexico it sounds pejorative, so it's never used.
