La cámara

Could it also mean "chamber"?

Rusty March 24, 2013 02:42 PM

Yes.

Premium March 24, 2013 03:12 PM

I have three dictionaries and none of them says it. Anyways, thank you, Rusty.

It may seem a weird question, but what kind of dictionaries are you using and their names?

Thanks.

Yes, there is in the US a legislative body called la Cámara de Representontos - oops, I meant Representantes (or did I?)

Rusty March 24, 2013 06:14 PM

Collins English Spanish Dictionary cámara

Diccionario Espasa Calpe ElMundo cámara

The dictionaries above are combined when searching for words in www.wordreference.com. For example, cámara

@Premium:

Apart from Glen's example:
· Cámara de comercio -> Chamber of commerce
· Cámara de los Lores -> House of Lords
· Música de cámara -> Chamber music
...

German - Spanish, of course. I'd fail with English - Spanish.

I don't think so. As a matter of fact and since you consider yourself a "beginner" in English too or so it seems, I would suggest you to look for the word chamber in the English - Spanish first, and also in the German- English dictionaries and see what you come up with. ;)

I have a feeling you'll be improving on those languages.

I don't consider myself as a beginner in English. I also did know what chamber means in English. I just feel more comfortable having the German translation.
