News magazine name in spanish

hello,

we are making a news magazine about robots

1) which is better "revistarobot" or "revistarobots"? (it will be a one word name)

2) would your answer be different than above, if i was asking "revista robot" or "revista robots" is better - in other words, no one word name but two word name this time.. would it change your answer from 1?

Revistarobot is better than revistarobots because robots is not good Spanish. I believe robotes is a better way to pluralize robot in Spanish.

for plural i always saw robots not robotes.

Hola:

Sobre las dos que sugerís en 1) ninguna me parece mejor. Tené en cuenta que al ponerlo en una sola palabra se debería en teoría duplicar la erre para conservar el sonido fuerte.

Revistarrobot / revistarrobots

El plural robotes prácticamente no se usa.

Haroldo didn't like either one, but suggested a spelling change that would make it better (in case you didn't understand).
In another forum, they were also trying to tell you that neither works well.
When you said that you weren't willing to change the domain names you already have, a native speaker told you to go with the first name (but still suggested that you split the words apart).

No one really picked up on the idea that these are domain names, where two or more words are often combined. When the combined words are read, the result is (usually) intelligible. This makes for a good domain name.

What you didn't pick up on was that the word combination you chose doesn't make sense in Spanish. That's the main reason you're getting the answers you are.

Native speakers of Spanish will tell you, and have told you, that 'Revista Robot' isn't Spanish. It isn't the translation of 'Robot Magazine', if that is what you were thinking.
The English version is composed of two nouns, the first one modifying the other. The first word is known as an adjunct.
Spanish doesn't have adjuncts. A Spanish noun can't modify a Spanish noun.
The correct way to say 'Robot Magazine' is 'Revista de robots'.

So, a domain name that would make sense to Spanish speakers is 'revistaderobots.com'. It's available, by the way.
