Histrión
I recently saw an article in which this term refers to actors. In English histrionic has a negative term meaning overly dramatic. Is histrión a somewhat derogatory term for an actor?
|
I don't think so.
Histrión is a theatrical actor, and they most of the time exaggerate while performing. It isn't the same thing than with a movie actor. |
I agree it's not derogatory; it's just that the entertainment journalists try to get "creative".
...and they usually don't distinguish, as Chileno points out, the difference; they just use the word for alternating in the text and avoid repetition. |
