Gufiao

A Google search points towards Italian. I believe the word is related to owls. Puerto Rico had a big immigration of corsos or Corsicans, and Corsicans speak an Italian dialect. I have never heard the term used among Puerto Ricans, but Puerto Rico is regional despite its small land area. Perhaps owls are seen as smart and sharp. I may be a remnant of early twentieth century immigration for that region.
