"Es" and "Está"
What is the difference between the words "es" and "esta"?
Can you give example sentences of how and why they are different? |
Here is a long thread: http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=260
Remember, that's grammar. |

Corrected. Thank you! |
so "esta" is used to describe something that isn't permanent? If I said "La playa es divertido" - that isn't necessarily permanent? But I would use "es" not "esta"
|
You should not think in terms of 'permanent'. The aforementioned thread doesn't support that argument. Think in terms of 'character' or 'characteristic' instead.
There is an 'Accents' drop-down menu above the text box. You can use it to correctly spell 'está'. La playa es divertida. = The beach is (characteristically) fun. Las playas son divertidas. = Beaches are (characteristically) fun. |
