"access you level"? (is it a human speaker of a plug-n-play speaker?;)) Wouldn't it be "assess your level" ("determinar tu nivel de inglés")?

Also "train of thoughts" simply translates into "el hilo" in this case.

Yes. "No perder el hilo". You also could say "para que no te distraigas de lo que quieres decir".
