Random Idiom
I am planning to add a "random idiom" link to the idiom dictionary. What would be the best translation?
Modismo Aleatorio Modismo al Azar Modismo por tómbola :D What do you think? |
I would use modismo al azar, because:
random shot = tiro al azar random data = información al azar random sampling = muestreo al azar I chose it at random = Lo escogí al azar :twocents: |
I think that that is great idea David, please you do it as soon.
|
I just noticed that the Spanish Wikipedia translates "Random page" as "Página Aleatoria".
|
Yes, some computer terms use aleatoria as well, like random access memory. But, I still think something done at random is al azar.
|
"Al azar" and "aleatorio" are the same thing.
Now, with computers, usually "Al azar" it's more for games and "Aleatorio" for computers, but they mean the same and can be used in both ways. I usually prefer "dicho/refrán aleatorio" (because it's a computer thing) as "dicho/refrán al azar", but both are OK. greetings :D |
Yes it's truth.
