Fork
Can someone tell me what Fork is in spanish. My spanish part of the dictionary is Tenedor but the other side says
Tenedor is holder, bearer Tenedor(a) de acciones = shareholder This is confusing |
Tenedor means fork, but it also has that other meaning (one who has OR holder) that many Spanish speakers aren't even aware of. Incidentally some Spanish speakers casually refer to a fork as trinche.

Many words have more than one meaning.
Even the English word 'fork' has about 16 different meanings (split across its noun and verb forms). Interestingly enough, we got our word for fork from the Latin furca, which became horca in Spanish. |
