La Lunga

La Lunga

In the telenovela Muñeca Brava I see the word "La Lunga" translated as girlfriend. Google does not display many hits on it, but seems to be a mythological character.

Is this a common term in Spanish?

No, it is not common. "Lunga" in Italian means long and this looks rather like a nickname for the character in the telenovela, who is tall and lean, but I'm sure Alec will have a better answer. :)

Thank you - interesting - tall and thin - that could fit.

later she says
la flaca
so perhaps similar - an off-hand put down

BTW, "La Flaca" it's a famous and pretty funny song of the songwriter Jarabe de Palo

"Lungo" in Argentine slang means "tall" when used with physical appearances. "La Lunga" is the nickname of a woman who should be evidently tall (The Tall One).
