Camionero

Camionero

it means truck driver.

However, I was reading this article in a Buenos Aires online newspaper about children that prostitute in order to buy paco (its like crack).
Quote:

They use the word camionero in what seems to be a different way. It seems to mean "someone who solicits a prostitute" or a John. Is my assumption correct? And has anyone heard this usage before?

I've always seen camionero as truck driver. Maybe they are just characterizing truck drivers as the typical customer.

Agree. The typical customer is a truck driver. They are minors, so a "normal" customer can be traced. Truck drivers are more difficult to find. And truck drivers have the "bed" int the truck, so the don't need an hotel.

But I'm not an Argentinian expert.
Saludos :D
