Como se dice "nerd" en español

How would you translate nerd into Spanish?

Tomisimo November 10, 2008 04:23 PM

En México, he escuchado algunos usar la misma palabra nerd.

Rusty November 10, 2008 07:17 PM

En Argentina, se usa nerd o traga.
Sos un nerd.
Sos un traga. (Éste porque se traga libros.)

rusty knows everything

CrOtALiTo November 10, 2008 08:17 PM

I would pick out the word friki for this side of the puddle, which is very new, just a few years old. Nerd is not getting through, at least right now. A friki is also someone zany, a weirdo, not only a computer friki.

Example: the guy who went to the last eurovision contest for spain.

Rusty, I agree with you, I also say "Come libros" - traga libros jajajaja

Tambien usamos "Raton de biblioteca" - queriendo decir que esa persona practicamente vive en las bibliotecas leyendo y estudiando, although....nowdays with the internet who has the time to go to a library???

CrOtALiTo November 12, 2008 06:29 PM

Noone, nowadays all the things are in the internet, you don't need anymore the library.

Planet hopper November 15, 2008 11:09 PM

Someone in my Spanish class said that they heard someone call a nerd, "miguelito". Has anyone else heard this expression?

CrOtALiTo November 26, 2008 05:52 PM

Yes, I also heard that expression in the school.

No había escuchado eso antes. ¿Le llaman miguelito a las personas en lugar de decirles nerd, aún cuando no se llamen miguel?
