A phrasal verb is a structure consisting of at least two verb forms, one conjugated and the other non-finite (an infinitive, a gerundio (present participle) or a past participle). Verbal periphrasis is used to form the informal future, the present progressive and the perfect tenses.

voy a pensar
estoy comiendo
he estudiado

Other constructions (numbering into the hundreds) are used. Have a look here or here.
