Small doors

Small doors

I have met a wonderful new amiga from Colombia and want to write something sweet  (maybe suggestive??) on a Christmas card.

The intent of my meaning is to say that meeting her has changed my life in ways that I could not have anticipated. Please correct my Spanish as needed and make any comment you like on the content:

Spanish: "a veces un puerta pequeña van a abrir hacia el interior de muy grande cuarto. Estoy tan feliz que yo te encontré"

English - "sometimes small doors can open into very big rooms … I am so glad I met you"

Gracias a todos

a veces unas puertas pequeñas pueden a abrir hacia el interior de muy cuartos grandes. Estoy tan feliz que yo encontré

I made some corrections, but I'm not sure if there are more and/or if I corrected them right.

Hello, this is my attempt.

A veces una pequeña puerta que abre mi puerta hacia el interior de un gran cuarto, estoy muy feliz de haberte conocido.

The whole sentence habrir el interior de muy grande cuarto does not sence in itself build then, for that reason I changed the translation above your post.

I agree with Estoy muy feliz de haberte conocido.

My suggestion for the first sentence:
A veces las puertas chicas pueden abrirse a salas grandes.

A veces una puerta pequeña puede abrir un gran cuarto.

My :twocents:

I'll take some literary license here (this is not a literal translation)

A veces al abrir una puertita, descubres que hay un cuartote lleno de tesoros atrás. Estoy muy feliz de haberte conocido.
Sometimes when you open a small door, you find a room full of treasures beyond it. I'm happy to have met you.

why would small doors be las puertas chicas and not las puertas pequeñas? Is it because it literary?

CrOtALiTo December 21, 2008 04:57 PM

I feel the whole sentence is small door would be a poem, I don't know is the poem is suffixed as literary poem, but for that reason, I have to modify the whole sentence.

You can use either one, they are synonymous.

Jessica December 22, 2008 07:26 AM

oh ok. synonymous means the same right (adj.)

Rusty December 22, 2008 08:18 AM

Yes, they are equivalent terms.
