Animal lungs

Hi,

This may well be a quirk of my memory, but I think I stumbled a while ago on a Spanish word other than pulmón for the animal, or non-human, lung. I tried to look it up, but only pulmón is surfacing.

Am I hallucinating?

bronquios maybe, but that's for humans too, and it's part of lungs.

No, lungs specifically.

agallas are gills

Not related to lungs, but sort of the same dichotomy:

espalda vs lomo
uñas vs pezuñas

Adding to possibilities: You may have found "branquias", which is another name for "gills", the respiratory organ for aquatic animals. :)
