getting started

I need to say "getting started", but what i have doesn't sound very good. Anyway I have "poniendo empezado" Is there a better way to say it than that?

Empezando, iniciando are a couple of options.

A more colloquial expresion is "ponerse en marcha".

Usually it's easier to determine the best expression with some context.
