Fiance & Fiancee

Fiance & Fiancee

Did I spell them right and what's the difference with them and girlfriend & boyfriend?
Fiance is the boy and finacee is the girl, right? were they originated from French? Is there an accent mark somewhere in finacee?
and if you're engaged what does that mean?

why do some girls call their friends "girl friends"?

sorry about all these questions!!!!:P

fiancé - man who is engaged to be married
fiancée - woman who is engaged to be married
Both are French words, borrowed into English.

What else would you call friends that are girls? In the English language you only have two choices - girl friends or friends that are girls. Unfortunately, a girlfriend (what boys like) sounds exactly like girl friend, but in written form they are distinguishable.

Do you know the Spanish equivalents?

well I just know the Spanish for boyfriend & girlfriend.
girlfriend: la novia
boyfriend: el novio

correct?
