I don't know the word in English, but what I deduce from your English words it is something like this. Usually it is a little place where a person, a collector, takes the money you pay to come into a place (an exhibition or something similar). I Spain we say "la taquilla".

I believe caseta de cobro is a toll booth.

We have them here in some parts of Southern California if we want drive down a more scenic or newer highway we need to pay a small fee at a booth.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

Taquilla is box office in English.

Now I think I understand you. You mean "pagar el peaje de la autopista", don't you? We say peaje.

"Taquilla" is not used in motorways, but peaje. "Taquilla" is used for cinema, shows, fairs, ...

I don't know in other countries, but in Mexico a "caseta de cobro" is a toll booth and a "taquilla" is a box office.

But a "toll booth" is in an "autopista"?

Así es, irmamar. La caseta de cobro ("toll booth") es la instalación de la ventanilla donde te cobran el peaje ("toll") de la autopista ("highway"). :)

The definition of toll booth is caseta de cobro but highway.

How I can name to caseta de la aduana then?

I hope I did this correctly...I attached a photograph of a toll booth in a highway here in California. :)

I've heard caseta de la aduana called customs and border inspection booth.

Maybe someone else has heard it called something else.

¿No que también en México se utiliza "cuota?" En Merida he visto ese término varias veces.

AngelicaDeAlquezar June 16, 2009 08:28 PM

Cierto, "cuota" es la palabra más común, pero "peaje" también se entiende.
