What is "pudiste"?

I am struggling to understand the lyrics of "Flor de Azalea", but get stuck at "... pero al salvarte hallar pudiste protección y abrigo".
What in the world is "pudiste"?
Please help.
Thank you.

Pudiste means you were able to, or you managed to.

Hello, Thomas H. Poli is right, pudiste is pret. indic 'poder': yo pude, tú pudiste, etc. In this sentence the usual structure is changed. In common speech, we'd say: 'pudiste hallar' or, better, 'pudiste encontrar' but, in this case, the sentence is submitted to the poetic rules of the verse.
