Vara
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for July 27, 2009
vara (feminine noun (la)) — stick, pole, rod, bar, shaft, branch, twig, wand, sucker, switch. Look up vara in the dictionary La princesa extendió su vara mágica y todo cambió. The princess extended her magic wand and everything changed. |
Una vara es una rama o palo más o menos largo y delgado. Pero para princesas, hadas y magos se usa "varita" (o varita mágica):

I remember something my Dad used to say when I was little. If there was something I wanted and I kept on asking for it again and again, even if they said no, he would say 'Y dale Jaimito con la varita' meaning something like:' Will she ever stop?'
