Dios que cruz, que cruz" This is a phase that we use when somebody we deal with is a pain in the neck, or we don´t like doing something.
In English?

Perhaps "this is the cross I have to bear".

So you don´t say What a cross !

Perhaps 'What a cross to bear!' , or ' That' s quite a cross to bear' ,yes.

But I don't think I have ever come across it as just ' what a cross' :)

We can say "What a load!"
My load is heavy. = What a cross to bear.
