Soy profesora de algebra en la escuela secundaria. La escuela empieza la semana proxima al lunes. Estoy mirando a una lista de vocabulario español para la sala de clase. Veo que "pizarra" significa "chalkboard". Pero mi libro de texto de español está muy viejo. No hay una palabra para "white board". Todas las salas de clase en mi escuela tienen "white boards". (En un "white board", se escribe con un marcador "dry erase".) ¿Cómo se dice "white board" en español? Y, ¿cómo se dice "dry erase marker" en español?

Just rotulador, I would say.

rotulador para pizarra blanca (Spain)
marcador para pizarra blanca/pizarrón blanco

En México:

Pizarrón blanco - whiteboard (pizarra es más bien una piedra, por cierto)
Marcador/plumón para pizarrón blanco - dry erase marker
Borrador -eraser (same word for both chalkboard and white board erasers)

En España son tan habituales que se llaman "pizarra" y "rotulador". Sencillo :)

Ahora empiezan a instalarse ya las pizarras digitales. Digital... :confused: in English? :thinking:

Well, if you're talking about what I think, a digital pizarra is called a "Smart Board". If you Google it you can see if we're talking about the same thing.

I find the same with "digital whiteboard" and "smart board" :)

I have a Smart Board in my classroom for the first time this year. I'm a bit concerned about it, because you have to have your computer hooked up to it all the time, and then I can't have my gradebook open or my attendance open during class ... and I will FORGET to do those things later in the day. Hmmm......
