To land is correct. We also use to light or to alight, but not commonly por lo menos aquí en EEUU.

"alight" sounds much better in the UK. It is a much more delicate (lighter?)operation than "landing".

A butterfly alights on a flower
A jumbo jet lands on a runway

I'm from the UK, and I would consider "alight" very literary. In normal conversation I would say that flies and butterflies land.
