Malavenido means that it didn´t come to good terms, they broke up.

To me malavenido means unhappy, but I get the idea they are still together.

Bueno, estrictamente sería malaconsejado. Hay otras palabras que literalmente parecen mejores, pero, por ejemplo, "ill-fated" para mí tiene connotaciones de que terminará (o ha terminado) en suicidio.

Mi diccionario dice "ill-matched".

I think [ill-advised / ill-fated / ill-matched / unhappy] marriage can all work.
