Nunca oí el término, pero según lo que entiendo, significa España tradicional o España aislada de antaño.

If that's what it means, then in English we would say traditional Spain
or the isolation of the Iberian Peninsula made Spain different from the
rest of Europe.
or more creatively deepest darkest Spain.
the heart of old Spain
