Address labels

Address labels

I need to know how a Spanish speaker in the United States would say 'address label' (as in return address labels affixed to the front of a mailing envelope).

Some suggestions I have seen so far are "etiquetas de dirección", "etiquetas de direcciónes", "etiquetas para dirección", "etiquetas para direcciónes" and "etiquetas de correo". A bit confusing! Which would be most commonly used?

Also how would you say "return address labels"?

Thank you!

I'm ready to be corrected by a native speaker, but to me "etiqueta para dirección" suggests a blank label with spaces, whereas "etiqueta de dirección" could be pre-printed with the address. The plural direcciones (no accent, please note) sound odd - surely you're not going to put two addresses on one label? I would favour "etiquetas de dirección".

A return address es un remite, so "etiquetas de remite" should communicate it clearly.

On principle I agree with pjt about the nuance with "de" and "para".

As for return address label, I would rather use "etiquetas de remitente".

Agree with pjt33
For stacks of pre-printed with the address
"etiqueta postal", "etiquetas de correos", "etiquetas de remite" ó "etiquetas para envíos"

I usually use
adres label : etiqueta de correo o etiqueta de correos, etiqueta postal
"return adress label "etiqueta para devoluciones"

¿Estampilla?

Address labels

Thank you all for these replies. It seems that there are a variety of possible translations, but I think I am whittling them down to the most usual.

I need to find the most commonly used expressions as these are vital key words for a web page.

ookami, you suggest the word 'estampilla', which I think would refer to an address stamp rather than labels. This is another word I am interested in. Would 'sello de goma' be a suitable equivalent, and would one of these be more generally used than the other?

Thanks again!

I'm not sure of "sello de goma", here "estampilla" and "sello postal" are almost the only ones used.

I think the most international versions are
adress stamp: sello de correos, sello postal
estampilla it's also used, but not so formal.
adres label: etiqueta de correos, etiqueta postal
return adress label: etiqueta para devoluciones postales
