Faucet

I have heard grifo, caƱa?(maybe not), pluma, ( I think) canilla--if I remember correctly,llave.
What's the best word for it? Does it vary from on country to another?

It varies a lot. In Mexico the most common is llave. I think grifo is the most common in Spain.

Yes - in England it is called a TAP :D

We also use tap in the US, although I think faucet is more common. There are some set phrases that use tap and not faucet, such as "tap water", which would be agua de la llave in Mexico.

A faucet, like for a kitchen or bathroom sink (spout for water and two knobs for hot/cold water) is called a "mescladora" in Mexican hardware stores, but of course that word has *many* meanings.

Llave = knob
Grifo = spout

In Chile.

Here:

Llave: key
Grifo: tap/faucet
Llave de paso: a general tap/faucet for all the dwelling (I don't know in English :thinking: )
