Alicaída

English?

Perikles December 31, 2009 06:56 AM

down in the dumps
depressed ( that's a bit strong)
fed up
in a bad mood (? and female too)

Really?

I think of it as more "droopy" "saggy" as in an article of clothing but I guess it could also be used to describe a "droopy" person......but always droopy not just a temporary feeling.

Maybe I'm wrong.

:)

But 'saggy' is not an attribute of a person in the sense of a mental state. It doesn't sound very nice as a physical state either. :whistling::thinking:

Bueno, pero tu sabes que siempre buscamos palabras para describir a una persona.........

¿Tu sabes quien es Eeyore? Pues imagínatelo personificado. La persona se miraría "droopy" y "saggy", ¿No crees?

Well yes, I can see the connection, but I've never heard it said like 'I feel saggy' rather than 'I'm down in the dumps'.

Well no........of course not. It is not a "feeling" per se. It is how a person looks.

Alicaída is in the same family of words as cabisbaja (not sure of the spelling) so it is how a person looks.

¿Me entiendes?
