Am I right about the word alentar
 

I've learned like for example aliento is breath, but it also means encouragement. I recently overheard the verb alentar and I'm abit confused about whether it means to become slower or if it means to encourage. Help!

alentar: Animar, infundir aliento o esfuerzo, dar vigor, dar aliento: to encourage
enlentecer, lentificar : Imprimir lentitud a alguna operación o proceso, disminuir su velocidad (to became slower, to slow)
