Matchmaker

Matchmaker

Matchmaker not literally for marriage, but something that helps one match interests and careers... but a word in Spanish that plays on the concept of matchmaking as in marriage. What would be the equivalent in Spanish?

Something like 'buscar parejas' might work. This doesn't necessarily mean for marriage, but it can mean that. It means 'match things up', and the word for pairs is also the word for 'couples'.
A matchmaker is a casamentero/a. There are other words, too.

In some magazines, it's called "punto de encuentro". It's supposed to be a place where people send their data to find persons with their same interests, either for finding a love-partner or to find friends.

Parejero, I believe, would not fit the bill. But emparejador, maybe. :)

"matchmaker" here is "casamentero/casamentera"
as a place "punto de encuentro", as angelica says
other usual concepts "almas gemelas" "mi media naranja" "mi otra mitad"

Also known as "alcahueta" or "celestina" (from La Celestina, by Fernando de Rojas). :)

I believe that it could be used as union libre.

@Crotalito: Eso es algo muy diferente. Rickyalison está preguntanto por los lugares y personas que se encargan de hacer coincidir parejas e intereses.
