To throw / kick / cast  |
What's the difference between "throw" and "cast"?
We say: lo primero que se echa en "echar" es la hache. ;) |
Cast is much less used, but there are some cases in which cast is used.
You can cast a fishing rod or net (but never throw a fishing line) You can cast a glance at someone (but never throw a glance) You can cast a spell (colocar un hechizo), but throwing a spell sounds bad. You can cast dice or throw dice. Cast sounds more poetic and is used in sayings like: cast seeds into the wind. With these exceptions in mind, throw is generally the word to use. |
He vuelto de "the spanish thunderdome" y ahora mismo acabé de leer "lo echaron" como "they showed it [transmitted] (by TV)" .. ¿un otro uso del verbo más útil y confundido:thinking:?

Exactly the same in Spanish. (Without being poetic at all) |
