Can we translate like I gave her a year :applause: to leave the convent?

I´m giving her a year to leave the covent

I´ll give (presente) her a year before she leaves the convent (sounds like a bet , sounds like she is expected to give up and leave)

I would say I am giving her a year to quit being a nun.
