In the following sentence:

Me dijo que creía que es mejor artista que...
He told me that he thought he is a better artist than...

May I say "believe" instead of "think" here?

They are interchange between them.
He told me believed that he's better artist than?
He told me that thought he's better artist than?:)

He simply says I'm the best artist.

Was he?
