Difference between lumbre and fuego?
What is the main difference between lumbre and fuego?
|
Fuego is fire. It can be found in nature (not man-made). When you talk about fire you're talking about it in general.
Lumbre is speaking more about the light of the flame, but can be used to talk about man-made fire as opposed to natural fires. :twocents: |
Edit: Rusty answer won and it's better :)
The main difference is that "lumbre" is made by will, and "fuego" can be started by will or not. |
In Spain, lumbre is quite a poetic word, additionally of what Rusty said.

It seems to me that part of the essence of "lumbre" has to do with illumination: "alumbrar", to give light or shed light. Whereas it appears that a lot of the usage of the word "fuego" has to do with destruction, consumption, firing weapons, and passion (not necessarily love): things that consume.
